How setup shapes your records

How Settings connects your catalog, templates, and workflows to the quotes and projects your team builds every day.

Settings is where you build the pieces your team uses every day: the catalog reps price from, the templates that turn into quotes, and the project plans that turn a signed deal into scheduled work. Nothing in Settings does anything by itself. It only matters once a rep, technician, or customer touches the record it produces.

The chain from setup to work

A Quote Template is where a sellable offering actually gets built: scope of work, priced line items, which adders it offers, and which agreement and payment schedule it uses. Every Quote Template belongs to a Quote family, which supplies the shared builder, job-detail fields, and fallback behavior (agreement, payment schedule, project handoff) that its templates inherit unless a template overrides them.

A Quote Template's pricing tab pulls from your product and pricing catalog: products and services, pricing rules, pricing tiers, and the adders catalog. Set these up first so a template has real things to price.

When a rep builds a quote from a template, the quote inherits the template's scope, pricing, and job-detail defaults. When the customer accepts (and signs, if an agreement is required), the quote hands off to a Project Template, which lays out the stages and steps that become the actual work.

Monitoring follows a parallel setup chain: a Maintenance plan built from deliverable types and connected to a project template is what a customer subscribes to, and alert types with org-wide thresholds decide what fires as a monitoring alert once they're connected. See Monitoring setup for that side.
