Sign-in and access problems

Fixes for missing menu items, permission messages, and sign-in problems.

A module or a page you need isn't in the menu

Your role controls which areas of solarOS you can open. A custom role has its own set of permissions and doesn't automatically gain access when the role it was copied from changes. Check the permissions matrix to see what your role includes, and ask an Owner or Admin to adjust it if you need more.

"You don't have access to this page"

You followed a link or address to a page your role can't open. This is different from not seeing something in the menu: it's solarOS blocking the page directly. Use one of the areas you can open, or ask an Owner or Admin to review your role.

I can't see Settings at all

That's expected: only the Owner and Admin roles can open Settings by default. Every other role, including custom roles, needs the Settings page-access toggle turned on before Settings appears in their menu.

"Waiting on an organization owner"

New team members can land on an organization agreement page with this message and get no further. Only the Owner role can accept the agreement. Ask your Owner to sign in and accept it, then the rest of the team can continue.

"Your trial has expired. Choose a plan to continue."

Your organization's solarOS trial ran out. Anyone without Settings access is redirected to the plan page until an Owner or Admin chooses a paid plan there.

Open Settings → Team → Users, click Invite log, and find the invitation. If it's still Pending, click Resend. If it shows Expired or Revoked, send a new invitation instead of trying to reuse the old link.

"We couldn't find a solarOS account for that email"

You signed in with an email that isn't connected to a company account or a homeowner account. Click Sign out and use a different email and sign in with the address solarOS has on file for you, or the one your invitation was sent to. If your company doesn't have an account yet, click Get started to reach our team. Homeowners use See homeowner options, or ask their installer to send an invite.

"Company accounts are set up by our team"

The sign-up page shows this because companies can't create their own account in the app. Click Get started and tell us about your company. To join a company that already has an account, use the link in your invitation email.

I signed in on the wrong side

The sign-in page asks you to choose Company account or Homeowner account. Company teams use Continue as a company; homeowners use Continue as a homeowner. From either form, use the link under it to switch.

A technician can't sign in to the Technician app

If they see We couldn't find a solarOS account for that email, they signed in with an email that has no invitation on file yet, or before accepting a pending one. Check Settings → Team → Users for their invite status and have them sign out and use the email the invitation was sent to. If they see a message that their account was deactivated, an Owner or Admin turned off their access; ask one of them to reactivate the account.

"You don't have permission to promote customer records"

This shows when you try to use a Contact on an opportunity or quote but your role can't promote it to a full customer record. Ask an Owner or Admin to promote the Contact first, or to update your role.
