What you'll accomplish
Create your organization in solarOS (if it doesn't exist yet) and fill in the company details your team will see everywhere: on quotes, invoices, and the customer portal.
Prerequisites
- You're creating a brand-new organization (submitting the form makes you its Owner automatically), or you already hold the Owner or Admin role in an existing one.
Steps
1. Create the organization
If your organization doesn't exist yet, you land on the Create Your Organization form after signing in for the first time. Fill in:
- Organization Name (required): e.g. "Acme Solar".
- URL Slug (required): auto-fills from the name (
solaros.io/acme-solar); edit it if you want something different. The form checks availability as you type. - Phone (optional).
- Website (optional): you can type
acme.com; solarOS addshttps://for you. - Find Address: search for your business address; selecting a result fills in the street, city, state, and ZIP fields below it. You can also type those fields in manually instead of using the address search.
Click Create Organization.
2. Complete the company profile
From the top nav, go to Settings, then open the Company section in
the settings rail. (/settings/company itself is a legacy redirect that
sends you to Company profile; it isn't a page of its own.) The section
covers:
- Company profile (
/settings/company/profile): your business details: name, address, phone, shown on quotes, invoices, and emails. - Locations (
/settings/company/locations): offices, warehouses, and material pickup addresses. - Branding (
/settings/company/branding): your logo and brand color, used on customer-facing documents. - Licenses & insurance (
/settings/company/licenses): contractor licenses and insurance, with expirations. - Business hours (
/settings/company/hours): your default operating window, used for scheduling defaults. - Territories (
/settings/company/territories): your Operations and Sales territories. - Jurisdictions (
/settings/company/jurisdictions): permit offices and their requirements, by jurisdiction.
Each is its own page (not a tab), reached from the Company section of the settings rail. Work through each one; at minimum, fill in Company profile so your organization's name, logo, and address are correct everywhere they're shown to customers.
Verify it worked
- Your organization's name appears in the app (e.g. in the sidebar/nav chrome) after creation.
- Settings → Company profile shows the details you saved, and they persist after a page refresh.
Common problems
- Address search finds nothing. The Find Address field depends on a real Google Places match. If your address doesn't resolve, skip the search and type the street/city/state/ZIP fields directly.
- "Slug is already taken." URL slugs are unique across all solarOS organizations. Pick a more specific slug (e.g. add your city) and try again; the form tells you as soon as it's available.
